Short Beach

Hot for Hobart (29 degC) but conditions were delightfully calm – between the earlier westerly coming down the river and the sea breeze coming in.  By the time that we had stopped to look at the new light-weight build, we just rowed up to the bridge and had a coffee at T42 (Constitution Dock) on our return.

Hot day for Hobart

Trevor reported some visitors on the Clarence:

Close to #48b

Hobart Saturday Morning Rows (each Sat morning weather permitting):

Forecast for tomorrow in Hobart is for gentle to light breezes moving to SSE.  It will be hot, by Hobart standards, so we will earn our coffee.

This is still row #48 as the forecast last week was for unpleasant 23 knot winds – but I think that it, probably, was quite rowable with much lower wind speeds and the odd gust going through.

We could stop off and have a look at the new light-weigh Derwent Skiff build at the Royal Hobart Regatta grounds but we would have to put the boats up on the grass as the MONA ferry wash is pretty severe at the boat ramp.

  • What: Row for pleasure, a bit of exercise and a coffee stop along the way. Destinations are coffee shops in Cornelian Bay, Lindisfarne Bay (both above the Tasman Bridge), Bellerive Bay, Constitution Dock and Sandy Bay Long Beach (all below the Bridge). If we go to Constitution Dock, it is usually on the way back from a row up to the Tasman Bridge.
  • Where: Leave from and return to Short Beach on Marieville Esplanade, Sandy Bay.
