Short Beach

Hobart Saturday Morning Rows (each Sat morning weather permitting):

  • What: Row for pleasure, a bit of exercise and a coffee stop along the way. Destinations are coffee shops in Cornelian Bay, Lindisfarne Bay (both above the Tasman Bridge), Bellerive Bay, Constitution Dock and Sandy Bay Long Beach (all below the Bridge). If we go to Constitution Dock, it is usually on the way back from a row up to the Tasman Bridge.
  • Where: Leave from and return to Short Beach on Marieville Esplanade, Sandy Bay.

Hi Rowers and Galley Slaves

This will be the anniversary row – we started our group rows in Hobart a year ago!

Forecast for tomorrow is moderate westerlies – no surfing like last week. Not much chance of rain either.
Pic from a year ago. Apologies that it is a bit blurry. (Bass plus mobile random trimming companion, Jackie in Proto)

Hi Rowers and Galley Slaves

Moderate westerlies meant a steady work-out into the wind and the chop – all the way up river to Cornelian Bay.
Then coffee and, yes Fiona, cake. It was the anniversary group row celebration! The elderly couple, who had nick-named us “The Odd Guys” were there too.

The wind freshened with plenty of white caps and surfable waves above the Tasman Bridge. You go a long way fast, with not many strokes when you catch waves consistently.

Couldn’t resist the pics.
