Short Beach

Hobart Saturday Morning Rows (each Sat morning weather permitting):

  • What: Row for pleasure, a bit of exercise and a coffee stop along the way. Destinations are coffee shops in Cornelian Bay, Lindisfarne Bay (both above the Tasman Bridge), Bellerive Bay, Constitution Dock and Sandy Bay Long Beach (all below the Bridge). If we go to Constitution Dock, it is usually on the way back from a row up to the Tasman Bridge.
  • Where: Leave from and return to Short Beach on Marieville Esplanade, Sandy Bay.

Hi Rowers and Galley Slaves

Weather in Hobart is for gentle southerlies which could be good for a row to Taroona and back via coffee at Long Beach.
However, most of the regulars will be at Victoria Bishop’s funeral. Victoria’s Derwent Skiff “Proto” in the
attached picture.

If a few of you get on the water down here, please grab a photo or two and send a note out to the group (or send to me).

Also, please note if the congestion at Short Beach is becoming problematic. It was easy during winter when there were only a few hardy club rowers. Now, there are many more and yachts with more cars and trailers as well.

Hi Rowers and Galley Slaves

Did anyone get on the water in Hobart Saturday? It was raining pretty well at 9.00am in Sandy Bay I believe. What happened on the Clarence?

Forecast, though a long way out is for good conditions this coming Saturday. I have attached a photo of Victoria’s Derwent Skiff (Proto – red) and Jackie’s (Fancy Free – varnished). Good days on the Huon.
